DJC#010 – Return of The Bath: Rediscovering Fun in The Tub

Where Is The Tub?
Recently my son has rediscovered his love for a bath, and it got me thinking. As children grow up, they inevitably transition from bath time to shower time.
If your nights are like my, you’re usually trying to have them take the fastest shower possible, yet they take their sweet time. But hey, on the nights where they have a little extra time, let’s not forget about the good ol’ tub! It turns out that bringing back the bath can bring some great benefits for both kids and parents alike.
Bath Bennies
Sure, showers are quick and efficient, but there’s something special about bath time. First off, it’s a chance for your little ones to relax and unwind before bedtime. Plus, it can turn into an epic adventure with some bubbles, toys, and even colored water tablets to make things more magical.
And let’s not forget that bath time can be a momentary breather for parents. While the kiddos splash around, you can catch a moment of peace and recharge your own batteries.
But it doesn’t stop there! Bath time is also an opportunity for some quality bonding with your child. As you help them wash and play in the water, you’re building a stronger connection and making memories together.
Tub Time
To take bath time to the next level, let’s get creative! Try throwing in some exciting elements to spice things up. How about a themed bath time adventure? Turn the bathroom into a beach or an underwater paradise with matching toys and decorations.
If your child needs some convincing to hop into the tub, make it an experience for them. Create a spa-like experience for them, and they won’t want to get out! Dump the bubbles in and challenge them to create the wildest bubble beard you’ve ever seen! Have them scavenge through their toys to bring some friends along.
And why not add some tunes to set the mood? Get your mini DJ to pick their favorite calming or fun songs to play in the background (my son loves dimming the lights, lighting a candle, and relaxing to chill music with Alexa).
And if they’re not into all of that, let bath time be the perfect stage for reading a beloved book or creating your own story to go along with the imaginary world your child is exploring.
Splish, Splash, Relax
Sure, showers are efficient, but the good old bath has its own magic. It brings joy, relaxation, and bonding moments. So next time you need a breather or want to add some extra fun to your child’s routine, consider bringing back the bath and dive into a world of imagination and connection. It’s time to make bath time awesome again!
